The Goulburn Flood Recovery Service (GFRS) is a partnership between a range of community services agencies across the region to provide outreach and relief support to those who have been impacted by the 2022 floods in the Goulburn region.

These agencies include:

  • FamilyCare (Shepparton and Seymour)
  • OzChild (Shepparton)
  • The Bridge Youth Service (Shepparton)
  • Nexus (Seymour)
  • Primary Care Connect (Shepparton)

We now have an opportunity for a Team Leader of Goulburn Flood Recovery Service to join the FamilyCare team and begin making a difference in the Shepparton community coordinating outreach and relief support to those who have been impacted by the 2022 floods. This role is a part-time, fixed-term position (0.8EFT) for a minimum of 12 months, based in the Shepparton Office.

How You’ll Make a Difference

Working in the Goulburn Flood Recovery Services unit, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the team, whose members include people from different agencies. As Team Leader, you will need to coordinate and negotiate with different stakeholders and agencies.

Your key responsibility will be to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operation and administration of a team of Recovery Support Workers (RSW), and ensure a holistic strengths-based approach is used when supporting individuals and families.

Your duties will fall under the five key responsibilities:

  • Service Delivery - setting service expectations for GFRS and ensuring they are met, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Data Collection and Reporting -  maintain data efficiently, and provide regular reports 
  • Representation and Advocacy - attend internal and external meetings related to the Goulburn region’s recovery representing GFRS, and identify any service gaps
  • Community Development and Education - increase community awareness of issues being faced, and highlight the support services available
  • Quality Improvement and Evaluation - commit to continuous improvement for yourself and your team and ensure all members of the team are following all operating procedures

Please note: this is a part-time (0.8FTE), twelve-month contract role, with the potential for extension based on funding.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

As our Team Leader, you will be a great communicator and an experienced people manager. You’ll have strong stakeholder negotiation and liaison skills, and come from a community services background.

Critical to your success in this role will also be:

  • Minimum Diploma of Community Services or related tertiary qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams through natural disasters or similar significant changes
  • High–level communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Experience designing and implementing projects with a team
  • High-level time management and prioritisation skills
  • Strong advocacy and experience with report writing

Please note: successful candidates will need to pass a Working with Children Check, and a National Police History Check, and hold an unrestricted driver’s license, prior to commencing. Candidates who have spent 12+ months overseas in the last 10 years will also be required to present evidence of an International Police Check.
